Q&A / WOOLFSON
What or who inspired you to start making music?
-
Coming from a musical family I took inspiration from my surroundings growing up. My Dad is an electronic music producer and my Mum is a classical cello player. I think that blend gave me a unique perspective on making music from a young age.
If you could tell every person in the world one thing, what would it be?
-
Choose a career in life that you enjoy, I made a decision when I was young that I would rather do something I'm going to enjoy every day than something I hate that makes me good money.
Where do you feel the most centered and happy?
-
In my studio. It's taken me a long time to get the studio to where it is now. I've been building up equipment for the last 5 years and now I have everything I need to suit my creative workflow.
What do you wish you could tell yourself five years ago?
-
Put music out!! I’ve been making music for a long time now and for years I would procrastinate over what to do with it. For me I've found that the best thing to do is just put it out in the world, it's the best way to get feedback and find out what's working and what's not!
In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
-
One crucial habit that took me a long time to teach myself was finishing things. For years I would come up with little ideas or start tracks, you're always going to listen to your music and think I could change this or improve that. It took me a long time to learn to draw a line under a piece of music and move on and I think it's a really important skill for any producer to learn.
