Q&A / Ayzic

If you could tell every person in the world one thing, what would it be?

  • Don’t lose the forest for the trees.  Life can be difficult, but lingering on hard times can make you miss out on a lot of wonderful experiences with those you love.

Where do you feel the most centered and happy?

  • I always feel the most centered, happy, and at peace when the day comes to a close and I get to lay down beside my wife and our two dogs to go to sleep.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

  • My piano teacher in college was phenomenal.  I learned more from him about music in three years than I had learned in my entire life up to that point.  The best piece of advice he gave me was that listening is more important than playing.  “How can you know what to do if you don’t listen to what is happening around you?” is something he said that will always stick with me.  He taught me to always listen to music actively. Since then I try to figure out melodies, chord changes, bass lines, etc. while listening to music.  Listening to every element of a song and trying to figure out what is happening helps you learn a lot.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Why?

  • I’d love to live somewhere really secluded in the mountains.  I’ve seen and been to a number of houses deep in the woods and always feel so free and connected to nature.  Mountain air has always made me happy.

What’s one thing about you that surprises people?

  • Honestly, my music.  I pretty much keep my musical persona private, except to really close friends.  When people find out about my music it usually catches them off guard!
