Q&A / Lotus Beats
What is your creative process like when making music?
-
I start my day by taking a walk along the beach listening to lofi artists that help inspire my creative workflow. Once I’m in the studio I sit down with a coffee and start by laying down a drum pattern. I probably spend far too much time selecting the perfect snare, but to me, it's super important! After that, I pick up my guitar to begin writing a chord progression, then a melody, and so forth.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
-
“If there is one rule, an unbreakable rule, it's that patience is necessary for greatness”.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Why?
-
Amsterdam. After my visit, I fell in love with the city. Beautiful architecture, great people, endless things to see, and all-around good vibes.
What or who inspired you to start making music?
-
After studying Music Production/technology at College, I became obsessed with pursuing a career in music. I met so many great people who introduced me to so much new music I didn't know existed. I loved the idea of collaborating with other musicians and sharing ideas and techniques with one another. I don't think there has been a single day since then that I haven't opened up Logic Pro to start creating.
Aside from lofi/chill beats, what is your favorite music genre?
-
I’m a huge fan of Neo Soul. Artists like Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei, and Anderson. Paak. I love how it incorporates multiple genres such as Jazz, RnB, Soul and Funk. I think it’ll be a timeless genre.
