Lucid Keys
Q&A / Lucid Keys
What or who inspired you to start making music?
-
When I was a young teenager, I was dying to play the drums, I would pretend to drum with sticks on wooden benches in our old house. I can’t remember what pushed me to start the drums, but I remember watching a lot of Buddy Rich videos playing the drums. The man had chops! My grandfather was also a musician, and my parents both have a deep love for music, so it was always around growing up.
What is your creative process like when making music?
-
My process has become quite focused because I’ve been doing it for so long. I used to really work on tracks for a long time, even if they didn’t work, but now I will quickly move on to another project if the first one doesn’t convince me very fast. If the creation process is difficult, I don’t think it’s worth it.
What is your favorite season and why?
-
My favorite season is definitely winter. Staying indoors on cold cloudy days, and making music with a nice hot cup of coffee is one of my favorite things to do.
Where do you feel the most centered and happy?
-
When creating in general, I feel the most content. I’ve always liked making things, whether it’d be music, building guitars, DIY, cooking... The act of going from nothing to something really excites me.
What do you wish you could tell yourself five years ago?
-
Don’t worry so much, everything has a way of working itself out.
