Q&A / Noé Mina
In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
That there are no failures, only opportunities to learn. Always try to do your best but don't put yourself down too much when you don't meet your expectations. Try to move on and keep on getting better.
What inspires you the most? Why?
Going to see a fire show! Hearing musicians live put on a killing show is always what motivates me most. I love playing live, love to produce and record, but nothing makes me wanna create more than hearing other people play.
What do you wish you could tell yourself five years ago?
Playing a horn instrument doesn't mean your only future is being a gigging musician. I feel like a lot of music schools create that kind of narrative - I would've told myself to start messing with Logic waaay sooner.
Where do you feel the most centered and happy?
Gotta be the woods. My grandpa built a little cabin in the woods in Virginia when I was a kid and I think ever since I started going there, wooded spots have been where I've felt the most centered.
What’s one thing about you that surprises people?
Most people who know me know this but a lot of my listeners probably don't know that I'm biracial. My dad is from Ecuador and afro latino and my mom is white and from Virginia. I speak Spanish with my dad and English with my mom.
